My Silent Wake

My Silent Wake are a British gothic death/doom metal band who were formed from the ashes of Ashen Mortality. The band was formed in 2005 in Weston-Super-Mare, United Kingdom. They have many other elements to their music; as well as doom/death they have a lot of influences from folk, medieval music and progressive/psychedelic rock. They recorded and mixed an EP in one day, which they released in limited numbers. The EP gained them a contract with Bombworks Records in America. The debut album “Shadow of Sorrow” was soon recorded, again in a very short space of time and released the following year (2006) to positive reviews and an excellent response from fans of Ian’s former projects as well as new fans. In 2006, they recorded an ambitious double album entitled “The Anatomy of Melancholy” which featured 2 discs, one of doom metal and one of mainly acoustic songs.

Their 3rd album “A Garland of Tears” was released in September 2008. Powerplay magazine gave the album 8 out of 10 points, and Kerrang! gave it 4 out of 5 points. They were voted for UK Metal Underground’s Top 12 “the best of British metal 2008” list.
