“Sonisphere Festival 2010” with Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Alice Cooper, Mötley Crüe, HIM, Behemoth, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer & many others

The Sonisphere Festival is a series of summer music festivals which took place across Europe in June 2009 and summer 2010. The festival is owned and promoted by Kilimanjaro Live with financial backing from AEG.

The Sonisphere 2010 tour is the biggest yet with 11 locations around Europe between 16th June and 8th August. The Locations for this years Sonisphere are Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Spain, United Kingdom, Sweden and Finland. The headliners are different to last year as there will not be a full touring headliner doing each date. The announced headliners so far are Iron Maiden, Metallica and Rammstein. It is expected that more will join. This year there won’t be sonisphere in Germany and The Netherlands.

On the 30th of July Sonisphere hits English soil for what is now a 3 day festival to take place at Knebworth House . Music will start Friday night at 6pm with a Rocky Horror Show Theme with Alice Cooper closing the night on the Saturn stage. Sweden will then host Sonisphere at Stockholm on the 7th August for a one day festival. Iron Maiden have announced on their official website that the band will be headlining the Swedish event. The following bands are confirmed for the event.

Sonisphere will then finish its massive tour off at Finland where tickets sold out last year. It will be held on 7th – 8th August at Pori. Iron Maiden and HIM have announced that they will be headlining the event. Poland is the first of the 2010 dates and will take place in Warsaw on the 16th of June as a one day festival. On Wednesday 9th December the Polish site went live announcing the festival. All of the ‘big four of thrash metal’ will be playing together for the first time.

Switzerland is second to take up the Sonisphere flag in 2010 with the festival taking place at Degenaupark in Jonschwil on 18 June. Czech Republic are hosting the festival in Mimon on the 19th June, this is also a one day festival. Metallica have announced on their official website that they will be headlining this event. Bulgaria will be the first to have Sonisphere over 2 days in Sofia on 22nd – 23rd June.

Romania will be holding the Sonisphere festival at the same time as Turkey on the 25th – 27th June in Bucharest. Turkey will be holding the Sonisphere festival at the same time as Romania on the 25th – 27th June in Istanbul. Spain host Sonisphere on 10th July at Barcelona. So far Heaven & Hell is the only confirmed band. Greece will be holding the Sonisphere festival at the 24th of June in Athens.
