Blackguard

Blackguard is a Folk/Melodic death metal band from Montréal, Québec, Canada. Formerly known as Profugus Mortis. The band changed their name after signing to Nuclear Blast in 2009. One of the main reasons was to avoid possible legal action against them. Their major label debut entitled “Profugus Mortis” as a tribute to their past, is an outing that has brought diehard fans and ignorant folk metal followers up short. Capitalizing on the best moments offered up on …So It Begins, the new album is a folk metal onslaught that redefines the genre and raises the bar to an all time high.

The band have posted a song, “The Sword”, on its MySpace page. The track, which features a guest appearance by vocalist Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist, comes off band’s new six-song EP, “Another Round” (released under the Profugus Mortis banner), which came out on November 25 via Prodisk. The band have team up Ireland’s Primordial, Switzerland’s Eluveitie and Finland’s Moonsorrow for PaganFest USA tour. The first date of this unique trek has been exclusively revealed on the PaganFest USA MySpace as May 7, 2009 at Chicago’s Powerfest. In 2010, they will support Epica’s “Deign your Universe tour.”
