Slapshock

Slapshock is a metal band from Manila, Philippines that was formed in 1996. They started as a Rap & Nu metal band and progressed to a metalcore band in their later years. Heavily influenced by American East Coast rap, they played in clubs in Manila in the 1990s before signing to EMI Philippines and releasing their debut album “4th Degree Burn” in 1999. The group has released several albums and been met with sustained commercial success in the Philippines, particularly with their third album “Project 11-41”, one of 2002’s most commercially successful albums in the Philippines, and the band was voted Artist/Band of the Year at the NU-107 Rock Awards.

They were also Philippines’ representative to the MTV Asia Awards 2003 in Singapore and presented an award to Linkin Park. In 2008, marked a historic event for the band as they represented the Philippines and Asia. They became the first ever Filipino and Asian artist to be invited to participate in the Dubai Desert Rock Festival. It’s the most prestigious annual rock event in the Middle East with thousands of rock afficionados gathering from all parts of the globe. They shared the stage with Korn, Killswitch Engage, Velvet Revolver, As I Lay Dying, Machine Head and Muse. The band released their latest released “Carino Brutal”, featuring the singles “Can’t Stop Us Now”, “Cariño Brutal” and “Like An Eskimo”. In early 2010, they will be supporting “My Heavy Metal Valentine’s: Trivium Live in Manila!”, along with Valley of Chrome.
